My First Blog Post

The purpose of my blog is two folds. One is to save my thoughts as texts instead of being stored in the memory neurons in the brain. That way, I hope I can grasp what I am in a more accurate manner. Another is to share my thoughts with other people.

I intend to cover various aspects of Japanese culture, whether they are obscure or well-known.  In my view, culture stems from things people do without being conscious. Those unconscious behavior include food, clothing and shelter, the way people greet, the way people walk, the way people talk, the way people move their eyes, the way people move their hands and arms during conversation, the way people nod, distance between two individuals when they talk, the way shop clerk treats customer, various body languages, among others. Since people do those unconsciously, they are naturally passed over generations provided that the behavior does not give rise to existential threat. Most of the people I describe in this category are nameless.

I also give my thoughts on people whose names are known. While many of them are Japanese, there are naturally non-Japanese people.

Another category is my reviews on movies, novels as well as video footages that interest me.

Finally, I intend to describe my future app. on Japanese letter learning.

The target audience of my blog post will be non-Japanese people who are interested in the Japanese culture or/and non-Japanese people who want to work in Japan such that they need to learn the Japanese language and culture. Of course, the Japanese readers are most welcome.

The blog posts will be written in the English language since it might be shared by wider audience. Naturally, there could be my comprehensions that differ from the original intensions of those documents I refer. Since English is not my first language, I would appreciate the readers patience when my English is not correct  or/and strange.

My blog consists of several categories.

a. General

b. Discovering Hidden Gems of Japan

c. My Perspective on Notable Figures

d. Book/Movie/Video Review and Reaction

e. My app. for Kanji Learning

Name Convention

Traditionally, the given name of a Japanese individual comes after the family name. When one writes or discuss a particular person in the English language, it often happens that the given name comes first. In my blog post, I will use the English convention in addressing a contemporary individual, i.e., the given name will come first.  I will use the Japanese convention when I discuss those people who belong to history. For example, I will write Oda Nobunaga instead of Nobunaga Oda, the latter sounds strange.
